Why Snow Stars
Owner-operated by Ramon Vela. Same person at every Grand Ledge booking. No franchise rotation, no swapped-in driver - and same-county neighbors, not a franchise driver from out-of-area.
Transparent packages on this page. $250 / $400 / $550 published below. No "call for a quote" loop.
STFU food-service license through the Barry-Eaton District Health Department - the credential Grand Ledge schools and festival organizers require for outside vendors.

That's an MSU football player driving 30 to 45 minutes for shaved ice. As an authentic shaved ice story goes, that's the one I think about most. It's why we keep doing what we do.
Why Snow Stars in Grand Ledge

_edited.jpg)

We’ve catered Yankee Doodle Day - Grand Ledge’s largest annual community event - and the same Eaton County loyalty cuts both ways. We’re 20-25 minutes east in Dimondale, your neighbors. Booking Snow Stars means booking a vendor who knows the town and the rhythm of a Yankee Doodle Day crowd - fast lines, big volume, Ramon on-site personally.
Anti-franchise, not anti-competitor - Ramon shaves the ice himself at every event. Block-shaved (soft snow-like texture, not crushed). 100% raw cane sugar syrups, never corn syrup. Fresh fruit cut the morning of the event.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does shaved ice catering cost in Grand Ledge?

Three packages: Rising Star $250 (60 minutes, up to 50 guests), Superstar $400 (90 minutes, up to 100), Mega Star $550 (120 minutes, up to 150). Every package includes setup, service, cleanup, 13 standard flavors plus 4 signature combos, and Ramon on-site personally. How far in advance should I book for a Yankee Doodle Day or Grand Ledge event?

Two to three weeks is comfortable for private events. For larger community festivals at Yankee Doodle Day scale, book 4-6 weeks ahead - peak season (May-September) fills fast. We respond same-day to inquiries.
Do you cater indoor and winter events?

Yes. Indoor venues and off-season bookings are both available - our cart fits standard indoor venues, and we run year-round for Grand Ledge schools, fundraisers, and corporate appreciation events. Tell us the venue and date and we’ll confirm the setup details (standard outlet, water source within ~25 feet, 10×10 footprint).
What’s the weather plan for a Yankee Doodle Day or Grand Ledge outdoor event?

Yankee Doodle Day runs rain-or-shine downtown - our shave ice setup works under festival tents and tree cover at Fitzgerald Park or along Bridge Street. For uncovered backyard Grand Ledge events facing weather, we work with you to reschedule at no charge. Tell us your venue’s covered options when you book.
